Air Force Common Admission Test:

·       AFCAT is a national level examination which is conducted by the Indian Air Force. The examination is conducted to recruit candidates for the three branches which are technical branch, flying branch and the ground duty.

·       The written examination consists of English, general awareness, non verbal reasoning and verbal reasoning.

·       The examination is conducted for 2 hours which consist 100 questions of 300 marks and one mark is deducted for each wrong answer.

·       The examination is conducted two times a year generally one in the month of November or December and May or June.

·       There are different eligibility criterion for the three separate branches. For the flying branch, one has to be between 20 to 24 years old with a minimum degree of graduation from any recognized university.

·       Candidates should have a minimum of 60% marks in their graduation and should not have any backlog. Final year students can also sit for the examination provided they have 60% marks without any backlog in their previous semesters. They need to possess a provisional certificate from their university.

·       There are certain types of commission; one is the Permanent commission and another is the short service commission. The ones who enroll themselves in the PC have to serve till retirement and the ones opted for SSC have to serve for 14 years.
